Almost 3 months has gone by without a post. What a slacker mom I am!!! Since the last post, we have had Ryan's 35th birthday, my sister Missy's birthday, Easter and nothing else too exciting. I just post some pictures because that is all I know you really wanna see. Ha! Just my cop-out for not writing a long blog. Hope all is going well with you. We are doing well, just busy raising two small kids and working. Time just escapes me. Cannot believe that Guen is now 2 1/2 years old and Grae will be 5 months this Sunday. Take care! My goal is 2/month, and that ain't happenin'. Oh well, here goes. This maternity leave is flying by. I have 4 more days before going back to work. My first day back is February 19th. Countdown is on! This December some exciting things occured. On December 19th, we came proud owners of a minivan. Yes, I know minivans are the uncoolest vehicle but we got one. We love our new Honda 2012 Oddessey. I do hate though having a car note now. But it was time. Ryan's 2002 Saturn was on the verge of a breakdown and we thought we needed to trade it in before we had to tow it in to get any kind of trade in value. Plus with our growing family we needed the room!!! Another exciting thing we did this December is get our lawn dyed green for the winter. And it looks good. We turned off our lawn service for the winter and so it has stayed green. The only thing is we have yet to go out and maintain the yard now that the lawn service is over. The lawn just needs a good raking to get rid of all the pine needles. Ryan and I plan to do it soon. Probably we he starts his 3 months paternity leave (starting February 20th) when I go back to work. We did another first this December, we had a professional photographer come over to our house to take baby announcement/xmas/family photos. She was a reasonable price and it beat going to Sears/JCPenny/Portrait Innovations to have our pics done. Especially now that I see how long it takes to get out the door with two kids now, it was very convient that she came to us. This xmas we celebrated here, of course. We did our usual xmas eve over at Ryan's sister's house and then went over to my parents for xmas lunch, back to my house where babies napped and then woke up to do the Mears xmas. We ALL made out with too much loot!!! This xmas Guen is understanding a little bit about Santa. She put the cookies and carrots on the plate on xmas eve. But when we woke up and saw all the presents under the tree and asked who brought the presents and placed them under the tree she said "Nanny and Poppy". Ha! When we ask whose birthday it was she said "Holly" and eventually said Baby Jesus. Holly was given to her 2 years ago by a family friend and has been Guen's "lovey" doll ever since. She cannot go anywhere without that doll. This Christmas we were very fortunate and had a great time. Lastly, this December, we finally finished up our tiny remondeling job in the house. Although I do not like the "grey" paint that was chosen for our bedroom and want to repaint it, everything else is done. We got a new bed and nightstands too. We refinished our 50+ year old twin beds and they honestly look brand new. I think that was my favorite thing, that my grandmother's twin beds look so good after being refinished by a woodmaker. Now I am being very slow about rehanging all the pictures on the wall. My goal is to finish that up when Ryan starts his paternity leave and can help me. New Years was so exciting with us all in bed by 10pm. January was pretty much uneventful. I did attend a two day nursing conference to get some much needed CEU's. And this February was pretty much uneventful, although we are just getting over Guen being sick last week with high fever and possibly an infection. There has been many nights of interrupted sleep by Guen. Although Grae is sleeping now for the past 4 days in a row 9-10 hours. He has been a good sleeper and has been sleeping about 6-9 hours since he was about 3-4 weeks old. Hope all is good with you. Here are some pics of the last 2 months.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 298px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDjJ5Palr3Nfm_3GexIYMO5Z9gdvq4EEAXPi50hdCLhP7LBk_VyFXyZfqvlnZTZNUaxGzeD2AAS3rF3d5LPKgdqYt1QOsvHB0u4qmUj2W1HNwRvexAk3h98IhtKE19t_J3P2MLJj2ibA8/s400/IMG_1457.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5708984243427329842" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 298px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8w_pVmqMSMWLYbcTaVyd0kD1537aqh2acG66CCqt4WH9xoRwdLrD2LncC1WaisxIh2Uu5-5ZuYCrwzR55B6E0ep2FcYq7C-Z74GB8CicOlIjoGLCxrFXUEwxCwGR33p6NBchlEC9Ysbk/s400/IMG_1476.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5708984236754437042" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWhtNka3nz9o25OUfCC7OI04bukMJHMlZ9SwItsXT0K4pOawvI-2YulYo4OFfcege0jzt6gc1yo7RUGPk9LlZUlX7kDKNHAfEBdJK3Vce5Kek_hE_TfKPEiPOalhwhfF65VYbdYxtHQ44/s400/DSC_0165_2.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5707275131421304018" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGb27Z87vdvXFPw58YXhPeW1vxXBYahfIZf9fjZfsEV2_e7U0bH-rCnz-tA5XLkay-28VuoLkYtJqJKsBXkRP2KtAmm47CduGQfH2_Uhh4iRZNXgOSX965_Q69tdiHeKoLEJCwpq1xpe4/s400/IMG_3011.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5707274939457055618" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjKCp2_8Y6cc0TbgHPYAx0J72yDYOl5hQbZv7J2b0iLCjlFdRINcrxCFbP63dzguFGRyu2ynxLxi8zUSjGykDcr9mwIJbptG90dgM0NrTuxhxUNGJqH8jUVk1XBk79xx_1Bkfa0xq5pqk/s400/DSC_0267.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5707274706952548018" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpWC0xi726WBQAkCDx6ZpglqiDp-iAkfYIGC7M8eSCNh-E1OPLs1gt_HDoGQA9Jwp4MyK1Mspmu75MGmv1aQCm8xNr2cB8ty9w3ciIj2EriS92ZhHojc38owI2sv5bRr_LFVdv4rQkRxE/s400/fennell12.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5707273777195089298" />Elizabeth Fennellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05198006891423697120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917583981942672107.post-81615067717938302752011-11-30T11:51:00.000-08:002011-11-30T12:34:18.456-08:00Graeber John Fennell Arrives!!!!Baby Grae is here! I cannot believe that I had a boy!!! I don't know what to do with boys but I bet I will quickly figure it out. What a shocker and here is the story. Monday night, went to bed at my usual time around 9-10pm (I did not have to work) after an exhausting day of running errands with Guen. I woke up Tuesday morning around 145am to use the restroom. When I got back in bed I noticed I was contracting. I thought they were Braxton hicks but they were coming pretty regularly and so I decided to start timing them. I got up and found a website on the computer that keeps track of your contractions for you while I played around on Pintrest. After an hour, they were about 5 minutes apart and 30-40 seconds long. So I went and woke up Ryan and we timed them together for about 30 minutes. They were getting pretty intense so I went to take a shower to get ready for the hospital while Ryan called my Dad to come over for Guen. After my shower I felt so much better that I laid down again in the bed and asked Ryan to time them again. I did not want to show up at my work and the be sent home cause I was not even close to having a baby-how embarassing! So we laid there timing them for about 15 minutes when my water broke during a contraction around 445am. Yippee, now I officially could go to the hospital. We finished getting dressed and said our goodbyes to my dad and headed to my work. We got there at 6am, got my epidural around 830am and I had Grae at 1112am. My birth with my friends at work was fabulous. I have had the VIP treatment and have been treated like a princess this entire time. Grae was 7lb 7oz and was 20.5 inches long. A lot smaller than Guen who was 8lb 12oz. He looks kinda like Guen when she was born but definitely has my feet and my ears. He, so far, is a great breast feeder and a very mellow kid (unlike Guen) and I hope he stays like that. I have been feeling a lot less stressful about this kid and feel like I can actually enjoy the experience rather than worrying about the small stuff. Guen came to visit for the first time this morning and she was very good with Grae. She was "real soft" as she pets him and calls him "my baby". Will be discharged tomorrow and reality will begin. Wish me luck!!! Anyone with any boy hand-me-downs to pass on to me, will be eagerly accepted. Anyone need any girl clothes? Love, Liz
<img style="display:block; I guess it is because it is the last month to be a family of 3. We have been getting ready to be a family of four at the end of this month. On November 13th, Ryan and I thought we were having our last date night before Baby #2 came with the Homer's at Zelko Bistro. Instead it was a suprise baby shower with all our friends. That sneaky Sarah had arranged for Barbie, Robert, Amy, Dr Huang, Chris, Tootie, Chad and Sarah and Aaron. It was fun and they all got me a double BOB stroller!!! The food was delicious and the company was awesome. The following weekend, we went to a wedding reception for Ryan's old roommate from college at University of Charleston. He got married in Thailand back in August and had a reception here with Andy's side of the family on November 19th. They had pics of their wedding as a slideshow on the tv screen. Their wedding looked amazing and their reception here was very nice too. It was good to see Pang and Andy-Congrats to you both again! We were saying at the wedding how it was funny that the last time we saw them was when we were in New York (where they live) and I was pregnant with Guen and now when we get to see them again I am preggo with F2. We said next time we see them again Pang better be the one that is preggo, not me. For turkey day weekend, I had to work Thursday, but fortunately my parents held off Turkey Day til Friday when I was off so I could celebrate too. On Friday the 25th, we went over to my parents house and my sister Missy came up from San Marcos and we all had Thanksgiving together. It was a FEAST!!!! After turkey, my sisters and Chad came over to help Ryan and I put up the xmas decorations. We put up everything early this year because of F2's imminent arrival. I just did not think that I would want to be decorating when dealing with 2 children, much less one child. The next big news is we are buying a new car. It is going to be hard for me to swallow a car payment after not having one for so long. Both of our cars are 9/10 years old. But Ryan's car is on the brink of death and before it goes, it would nice to have a new and bigger car before the baby gets here. So I have been frantically emailing dealerships this past weekend, trying to get us the best deal/APR. Hope everyone had a fabulous November/turkey day. Next time I write will be the posting of F2's arrival. Exciting!!!!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLnvrZm0RtzQHhFfFVjzSIB6Fb4MhYRqcmTqR4fqZIkjLR-_K2nvTyLKhgzkfXxcFzQBct8Oi4eF2i7RGlcjA3wQegQ4Wj9GEi_Z5Rvonr97pl_ZsTtHJ1Ix1-kRsPi_iX7Ax43ctZO-Q/s400/IMG_1080.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5680156321313834530" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2xRacQE31e1DGQChllLhIjJJLZtW7J1LFEfsM0Hg3CIShGl1MZxtBsjhBH2P4NK-7BmRHzYqJGg99Ln6hjBN9o_TIfGyeCqUyvsg8InAcGXdg6gyNA-CwHFex_WT-HxmrON-HfKrfwsc/s400/IMG_1075.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5680155923579635330" />Elizabeth Fennellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05198006891423697120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917583981942672107.post-61332091759361592572011-11-04T19:42:00.001-07:002011-11-06T14:03:16.813-08:00Busy October....This past October went by so quickly. Besides the big October 3rd birthday of Guen turning 2 years old, there was a lot more fun that I want to share. During October, Guen and I took at road trip to San Marcos. We went to visit Missy, who lives in my parents old house. I have not been to San Marcos since my parents moved here 2 years ago. It was neat to see how much San Marcos has changed. The night we rolled in, Thursday, we ate at Herberts, then the next day, Friday, Guen and I went to New Braunsfels to visit my friend Amy and her son Grahm. It was great to see them. It was such a beautiful day, we went to Landa Park and the kids played. Amy was kind enough to feed us lunch after that too. Guen and I went back to Missy's house where my friend Randi, whom is a teacher and took a half day just for us, had come down from Austin to visit us. We talked a long time (2.5 hours) while Guen napped and then went to Paper Bear for ole times sake. We met Missy at Grin's for dinner and ate out on the patio because it was such a nice night. For a sweet treat afterwards, we went to the San Marcos food trucks located behind the old Mr Gatti's and we all had cupcakes. Then Randi went home. Saturday, Missy was off and we went to have breakfast tacos at this yummy Mexican place in San Marcos, called Ta Molly's. It was so filling and delicious. I miss central texas tex mex food!!! Then we went to the outlet mall to look around. After that Guen and I headed home to Houston. Guen did really well on the trip back and forth. I was proud.
This month, on October 25th exactly, my work peeps through me a baby shower. I thought it was so sweet considering I just had a baby 25 months ago and have everything, except if it is a boy. Anywho, it was actually held at my OB/GYN's house. He is married to a NICU nurse whom I work with. It was kinda funny to have all my NICU friends there and then my doctor there too. He actually hung out with us girls too, so sweet, I love my OB/GYN Dr McGuirk. We had a fun time and I made out with A LOT OF LOOT!!!!
Another exciting event was my parents combined birthday party weekend. Since my Mom's birthday is on the 24th of October and my Dad's birthday is on November 5th, we had a combined birthday party on October 29th. Missy came over to Houston and we all went out for lunch at my mom's favorite Red Lobster. Then we came back to our house where we opened prezzies and had black and white cheesecake made back Missy and apple crisp a la mode, made by me. It was such another pretty day, we spent most of the party on my back porch watching Guen play and enjoying the weather. After the party, Tootie and Chad stayed behind and helped me move Guen into her new big girl room. We officially moved Guen into the other bedroom and left the nursery for the new baby. We finally got all the painting and construction done this month too. So that is exciting. Now it is down to the final details to get the back half of the house finished. I promise to show pics when it is all done, but there is still a lot of little things to do. Guen had no problem adjusting to her new room and seems to like it.
Lastly, Guen and I went to Wyatt's birthday party on the 29th which was another beautiful day. She got to rewear her Halloween costume from last year and it fit perfectly. She had a blast at the party. The Guen and I went to go trick or treat on Halloween and she finally "got" Halloween and what to do. She kept saying "one more house" and came home with lots of candy. See pics from October below. Hope you are doing well. Count down is on here at the Fennell house. 25 more days till F2 arrives!!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4qltJNp5VpUouC4qUHkxtgF2QnRqxtxbGaLEiY8u7p8lZJYDSOI0t5oKNhW_b7wNNWge-uKW6ZCq9-0ieJ4zqNhwpPBcgoqvBc38FXgJXqeyMuApwi7_6ueH0rjCUFfgY_dcH-rgvwDg/s400/IMG_2707.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5671592682547012674" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVn4b8QsUZYmBsuh8dpkptQjwisOaqBf-R4dXFLWxyVIQmnJ0xe4mR_MNvW9HR-n-zkoenyzRvmWlCkWFm7hL6tXgtvoBXJNVN9rWXt7rlKs8x7wAx9cmQpt_DgIhpkldEozp2TsLSHBM/s400/DSC_0009.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5671592671427462866" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqNwSDJW9hxYajJlLjTBIgw7oiY1s-kE5aUDBsyjy0I4E5fsKXGA5WnqDAW1TCkb01va8n3wlfHlyfKvShEnmkOqg5dp5lbQxvfv2okUwS7xwqg7Zs7alPFC_Y6MEFVbal4MOyFZ4BfAw/s400/DSC_0008.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5671592666995719954" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 298px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBx4YEtrwC7vuPXjQPwRFqChsqqsqBDcvqeKUHi4TYkB9Vl3QGPl203jczpyZa24UcBfVt1ezwo2Pxm7dBQXsaZDJug3KM0GWUXB3oD7Brd2aSlqG7Y8bvHM6JeMMW1GSdesIbJMQyLns/s400/IMG_1335.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5671983544780136274" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9K5VgI6KHyeTz9PJrEPLaW5BVpOLMLKUId5y6V4iEiOV2SNXTWDg9b43bfVaNXMXo-vmya_9WS1jXWbsa443f4VaIUuW8lQe-v3WjIsYJUNxC341nzNCZORp1_BQ5fEUce7TtOARDkgE/s400/IMG_1353.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5671983540126059122" />Elizabeth Fennellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05198006891423697120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917583981942672107.post-84380031435272342082011-10-11T11:01:00.000-07:002011-10-11T11:38:50.652-07:00Happy Birthday to GuenGoodness, I have not been writing lately. It seems like with this new baby coming, I always have an excuse. But I am sitting down to write a little piece about my Guenie growing up and turning a big whopping two years old! Her birthday was Oct 3rd, Monday, but we started the birthday activities earlier that weekend. My family came over Saturday for lunch. I made sandwiches, dips, and a pumpkin dump cake for her birthday cake (something I was craving and wanted to try out a new receipe from Pintrest). I thought it turned out yummy, kinda like a pumpkin pie, upside down. Topped it with vanilla ice cream-delicious! I also tried another receipe of 7 layer Greek dip with hummus, Greek yogurt, cucumber, tomatoes, feta cheese, and other veggie with pita chips-delicious again! Anywho, we had a great time and Guen has finally gotten the hang of presents, that the paper is not the fun part, it is what's inside. She received a Barney Balloon from us, sit and spin, coloring book, Barney book, from my parents, a purse, play money/coins, note pad, colors from Aunt Missy and a coat, sweater, furry boots, jeans, dress, cardigan, and stuffed dog from her Aunt Tootie. On top of all that, and probably more importantly, everybody made contributions to Guen's college fund too. Unfortunately Ryan was not there cause he had to work that day. My sisters, Chad (Tootie's boyfriend) Guen and myself went to the mall that evening after she woke up from her nap after all the birthday festivities. Missy and I went off shopping, while Tootie Chad and Guen went off so I could shop without her. What a treat not having to watch to see if she is going to pull clothes off the hanger or get fussy, etc. When we got home, Missy, Tootie, Chad put Guen to bed with dinner, bath and reading. Another thing that does not happen often, while Ryan, who was now home from work, and I could relax.

Sunday, we went to church and Guen took her usual long nap after church. When she woke up, the entire Fennell family was over for her birthday. We had the same thing for an early dinner but I also made some cupcakes since I new the Fennell cousins would like that. Thank goodness, the entire weekend was fantastic weather, so we celebrated most of the festivities outside. For her gifts from the Fennell family, she received a non spill bowl from her Lovey, a tent, purse, lipgloss from the Fennell family and a bracelet from the Rajski family. She liked playing with all her cousins and had a ball.

Monday, her actual birthday, I had off from work and Ryan went in late for work that day. So we had a big birthday breakfast. We gave her a big girl brush and some rubberbands to pull back her mullet. We later went and had lunch at my parents house that day and she had another birthday cake over there. They watched Guen while I went to my 31 week appointment which all looks good. We came home and took it easy for the rest of the day.

Hope you had a great October so far. Will be posting soon before/after photos of some renovations we are doing to the house this coming week in order to get ready for baby number 2. We are truly blessed with such news. Of course we are still cautious as we should be with any birth, but this is a huge weight that has been lifted. Thank you so much for your prayers and support.Elizabeth Fennellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05198006891423697120noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917583981942672107.post-7149718232274587962011-08-23T09:06:00.000-07:002011-08-23T17:34:12.647-07:00Vacation ReportWe just got back from our annual summer vacation. We left this past Thursday, August 18th. Minus last summer, due to Ryan's broken back that needed surgery, Ryan and I have gone on a big vacation somewhere every summer. This year it was Portland Oregon. Why Portland? It is cooler than Houston, nough said. This was our first trip with Guen, not counting when I was pregnant with her in 2009. Although we were so scared she would be horrible on the trip, she was such a great companion. Advice to any parent, get the kid their own airplane seat. Even though she is under two and technically we could have kept her on our laps, we got her, her own seat. We had enough airline miles for all of us to fly free so that was another reason we did it. She did great on the plane! Thank God for Barnie too. That kept her entertained many times too. Portland is a great city for pedestrians, so we did not get a car. We took the Max light rail from the airport to our hotel, checked in and headed back out. We walked to some food trailers and ate at the Brunchbox, famous for the hamburgers but instead of buns, there are two grilled cheese sanwiches for the top and bottom bun. Yes a heart attack was in the back of our heads while we devoured it but it was delicious. In fact we were so hungry and splitting it was not enough for me, I ended up getting a chicken gyro at another trailer because I was still hungry. Needless to say, we were stuffed. Next we got on the bus and headed up to the Oregon Health Science Center Hospital where there is an aerial tram that you can ride. It had a fabulous view of the city and Mount Hood. It was cool. Next we took the rail to Portland State University to walk around. It was a beautiful campus, got a tshirt at the campus bookstore and Guen played in the quad/park area. We headed back to the hotel and got some chinese/sushi at the resaturant hotel Dragonfish that ended up being pretty good. We were all in bed by 8pm.

Friday, we were up early and headed to breakfast at a diner-raunt called The Original. It was very delicious and cool. Their blueberry pancakes and biscuits and gravy were the bomb! We then took our filled bellies back on the rail to go to the zoo. We showed up exactly when it opened at 9am. It was 63 degrees and a perfect day-plus it was Ryan's and I 5th wedding anniversary. The zoo was fabulous! We went through about half of the zoo, then took the "choo choo train" to the Portland Rose Gardens. It was breathtaking and smelled so good. There was a children's park next to the Rose Gardens that we stopped at so Guen could get outta the stroller and play some. Then we went to the Japanese Botanical Gardens which was small but pretty. We got back on the "choo choo train" and headed back to the zoo. We got some lunch at the zoo and finished up looking at almost all the animals. It was huge! One fun fact we learned at the zoo was from the lady that was holding a volcher and screeching owl. We all know that birds have hollow bones to make them lighter so they can fly. But another fun fact that Ryan and I did not know it that all birds do not have a bladder to make them lighter to fly too. That is why poop and pee just kinda leak outta them. Interesting! After the zoo we headed back to the hotel and took an hour nap. We all needed it! We got up and went to the famous Powell's Bookstore. It is huge and takes up 3 city blocks. They have a map when you walk into the store so you don't get lost. We looked around at some stuff, Ryan got a tshirt and then we walked to Kenny and Zukes to have dinner. It was delicous. I had a meatloaf sandwich with coleslaw with gazpacho soup and a brownie sundae which was yummy. Ryan got a pastrami sandwich with potato salad. We did not get back to the hotel til late and were in bed by 9pm, which is very late for Guen, especially with the time change.

Saturday we got up early and walked to Mill's End Park which is the tiniest city park in the world. Supposedly it was built for the leperchans one Saint Patricks Day. It was funnny. We walked along the Williamette River that runs through downtown. We went to the famous VooDoo donuts. We stood in line for an hour waiting for these famous donuts and they were good. Guen was a trooper and was very patient. Right down the street was the Saturday Market that we walked through and saw all the neat local artist goods. We walked through Chinatown to the Pearl District which is known for their cute shops. We stopped at a park in the Pearl District so Guen could get outta the stroller for a bit. I needed to use the restroom and went into the Museum of Contemporary Craft to beg them to let a preggo woman use their potty. They said that the museum was open for free right now cause the security alarm system is broken. I thought that was a weird reason to have the museum open for free and why would you want people to know that. Anyways I was just so thankful and went and got Ryan and Guen. We all went potty and then we looked around the museum at the Nikki McClure exhibit and the at the Crafty Wonderland exhibit. There were some neat crafts in the gift shop from the crafty wonderland exhibit and we saw that their shop was by our hotel. We made a mental note to stop by the shop later during our trip. That was random unplanned fun at the museum. Then we walked around the Pearl area. It was so pretty and there were so many shops and restaurants. We ate at 50 Plates for lunch and it was delicious. We were walking back to the hotel and were all exhausted at this point. We did stop at Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams store. Even though there is one in Houston, I have always wanted to go but never had. Since we were walking past it, we walked in and took a look around. This is when we noticed that Guen had fallen asleep in her stroller. SHE NEVER FALLS ASLEEP IN HER STROLLER! We were shocked. She must have been really tired. You know how you walk in the mall and see all the kids in the stroller asleep. No, not my Guen. She has never done that except maybe when she was an infant. Anywho, we kept walking back to the hotel and came upon the Crafty Wonderland shop and stopped there too. There were some prints that I loved and wanted to frame and put in the new babies room or Guen's new room but they were too big to fit in our suitcase for the ride home. Darn. Instead Ryan got some Portland cards to take to his friends at work. We got to the hotel and Guen was still asleep, she slept another hour, after getting her outta the stroller and putting her in the crib. After we all woke up we went to see the Portland County Library. It was old huge and so pretty. Ryan had to take a look around and get some ideas and Guen and I hung out in the childrens section. We went to a Toy store across the street where all Guen could play with is a stroller where she put a ball and baby in and pushed it all around the store. After that we just decided to get some Italian take out from across the street which was decent. We had a garden tub with jets in our hotel room and I turned it on for Guen. She loved the "bubbles" it made and stayed in there for about an hour. Her toes were so wrinkly.

Sunday, we took the bus to the Hawthorne District. It is also a fun little area of town but has older craftsman style homes and hippy-ish stores to shop in. We started out with breakfast at The Waffle Window. It rocked! I got the The Spicy Bacon Cheddar Jalapeno Waffle which has thick cut peppered bacon, diced jalapenos and a slice of Tillamook Cheddar topped with fresh made avocado-tomatillo salsa. Ryan got the Banana Rumba which has fresh sliced bananas, banana caramel sauce, whipped cream, granola crunch topping. Guen got Berry Bliss which has three kinds of fresh local Berries that change with the season anything from strawberries and blueberries to marions and tayberries. served with whipped cream and berry coulis. Can we all say together-YUM! After our big breakfast we worked it off walking around the Hawthorne area looking at all the cute craftsman style homes and ended up in a park where Guen could get outta her stroller to play. We then stopped at a grocery store so we could get Guen some snacks for the airplane trip home the next day. We then took the bus to another area of town called Laurelhurst. It has the beautiful older homes of Portland and was a gorgeous area. We landed in another park called Grant Park. It has statues of Beverly Clearly's characters of Ramona, Henry and Ramona's dog. I wanted a statue of her cat Picky Picky but we did not see one. Portland is the home to Beverly Clearly. It was cute and the park was great. We took the bus/rail back to the hotel and called it a day. We knew we had to get up early the next day so we got take out local Picatto Pizza which was great and were all in bed asleep by 730pm. We were exhausted.

Monday we got up at 330am to take the rail back to the airport and get on our plane by 6am. Even though Ryan booked our seat to be all in a row, when we checked in, two of them were together and the other one was not. The flight was packed and we asked the Continental lady if she could switch our seats. She paged the guy to switch the one seat. It was actually a better seat, the one with lots of leg room toward the front. The guy had already boarded the plane so she told us to ask him. When we got to the seat we asked the old guy to switch with us and he said "NO". So Guen and I sat next to him and Ryan sat up front. About 10 minutes after we sat down he leans over to me and says "I fly 30-50 times a year and whenever I switch seats with someone, something always goes wrong". I told him, no big deal, even though I was thinking in my head, you are bizarre. Ryan came back to get something outta the backpack and he tugged Ryan's arm and reluctantly said, "after we take off I will switch with you but I want to come back to the seat when we land". So that is exactly what happened. After the seatbelt light went off after we took off he switched seats with Ryan and we got to sit all together, but when we were descending into Houston, he came back and wanted to sit in his seat. Maybe that is why our plane did not blow up, cause he sat in his correct seat during take off and landing. What a freak!!! Anyways, I was glad to have Ryan with me during most of the plane trip cause Guen was a little more crazy on the way home. Probably because she had to get up at 330am. But we made it. We had so much fun!! Here are some pics from the trip.

The markers of the choroid plexus cysts were still there. I was hoping they would be gone in the two weeks since the last scan. But the doctors say they usually don't disappear til 26-32 weeks. Anyway, the scan with the doctor was uneventful besides seeing the cysts again. He said he did not see anything wrong with any of the other main organs and the baby was measuring fine. For a baby with Trisomy 18, he said, you would usually see many other gross anomalies with the cysts. He does want to rescan me at 26 weeks to see if the cysts were still there. That will be August 31st. This doctor was very short and dry unlike my ob/gyn. Now that we have had some time to let this sink all in, I will have many questions for my ob/gyn when I see him this month. We are so thankful that he did not see any other markers. We are also so thankful for all the concerns and prayers we have received from all our friends and family. We will keep you updated.Elizabeth Fennellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05198006891423697120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917583981942672107.post-28050168671720402512011-06-22T18:22:00.000-07:002011-06-22T18:33:53.151-07:00News...I went in to have my 16 week exam yesterday which included an ultrasound . During the ultrasound, they saw
a choroid plexus cyst on the brain. This "marker" has been connected possibly having a child having some form of
chromosome abnormality (like Down syndrome). No other markers were detected during the ultrasound or previous ultrasounds as far as I know. The baby having Down's syndrome went from 1/3000 to 1/100. My doctor says many times, if no other "markers" are found, these cysts go away between 24-32 weeks.

In about two weeks we will be having a very detailed scan with a perinatologist that will give us a better
idea. After those results and talking with the doctor we will be given the option to do an amniocentesis, which is consider 99% accurate, the scans are still very accurate but not as accurate. An amniocentesis involves slight risk, so we will decide after the scan results.

I've tried to be as accurate as possible from the top of my head with this information. When the doctor was talking to me, my head was spinning and everything went into slow motion, lots of tears were shed.

We're so blessed to have you guys as support as we place our trust in the
Lord. Yes, almost 4 years of working at Texas Children's Hospital, I quit, my last day being May 19th. My friends at work brought lunch and brought cupcakes and gave me nice card they all signed. So sweet!!! I will miss TCH, mostly my awesome coworkers. The main reason I quit is because the hospital took the vanpool away this past April. So for two months I have been cummutting by myself which is about an hour commute plus paying the $12 parking to get to work, round trip, around 59 miles. When I had a free ride for almost 4 years with the vanpool, I could not take it and started applying at Methodist Willowbrook. I started May 23rd and now I have a 7 minute commute, round trip, 5.1 miles. My position is not a NICU nurse but a transitional nurse. Basically I will go to every delivery and transition the baby and either send it to the NICU or back to the mom. My first week was all in the classroom last week. Yesterday, Sunday, was my first day on the unit. I went to 3 deliveries-one set of twins. It was very different! We were busy. I would explain more but I don't want to get in trouble or get fired for HIPPA reasons.

Also this past Saturday was my birthday celebration at my parents house. We all had a good time and ate way too much. My mom is the best cook. She made my request of shish kabob, slaw, chinese rice, rolls and my birthday cake was LAVA an ancient Mears receipe that is the best. Plus Ryan and I, or should I say, Guen, revealed the great news! See pics below. Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend.

Elizabeth Fennellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05198006891423697120noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917583981942672107.post-65006806711462915332011-04-19T09:55:00.000-07:002011-04-19T11:28:14.562-07:00HiA few excited things have been occuring at the Fennell household. First off, Ryan and I went on a date this past Saturday night. We went to Roller Derby!!!!! Yes, very interesting and fun. I think I am trying out next Saturday. The only thing is I can barely walk on my own two feet much less with wheels on the bottom. We went out to dinner before at the Saltgrass. It is one of the only restaurants close to the new arena. They just recently moved the Roller Derby from down in the Washington St area up northside. We went with Chris Homer too and some of Ryan's work friends. Tootie and Chad her boyfriend came to babysit. My parents were so crushed they were not asked to babysit, they came over anyways. So there were 4 people watching Guen, that spoiled girl. The weekend before was Tootie's birthday. We had a delcious homemade lunch prepared by mom and opened prezzies. It was a good time and my sister Missy came into town too so it was great. This past Sunday was Guen's first Easter egg hunt and, boy, did she catch on real quick. It was with our Sunday school group at a park by our house. The weather was perfect!!! I need to get on the ball cause I have no excuse. I guess it is that not much is going on recently that has been exciting enough to post. But on Sunday, my sweet girl turned 18 months. She is getting so big and has mastered many words. Of course these words are hard to understand unless you are around her a bunch. She knows: park, bus, school, mailman, Elmo, ball, please, bird, moo, baaa, ruff, mama, dada, papaw, memaw, more, hi, hey, car and her favorite word --no. She loves to eat meat, cheese and any kind of carb. She loves to brush her teeth. She know most of her body parts especially her belly button, she loves to show that. When I am off, we go to the park almost daily. She wears a 6.5 shoe. She had her 18 month checkup and is 75% in height and weight and 90% in head circumference. That comes from the side of the Mears family. We have gone to the zoo and out to eat a few times recently and she was well behaved.

About us....My vanpool to Texas Childrens, that I have used for 3 years, was nixed due to the economy, the hospital took it away. I am now driving myself starting April 1st and really want to find a job at Methodist Willowbrook which is 5 minutes away from my house when their NICU expands this fall. Ryan is still having aches/pains with his back 6 months post op so we went back to his surgeon and had back xrays again. Basically he believes that his back is healed but it is just going to take longer for the nerves to rejuvenate and gave him another course of steriods. He said that if his back continues to feel the way it does at a year mark that he can do a CT scan. He offered to do it now but he truly feels like it is healed. He offered physical therapy but says that Ryan is doing all the right things with his exercising so if we did not want to do it, that would be fine. So we are just saying our prayers that he will feel better with time. Here are some pics to tied you over til next month unless something crazy exciting happens this month. It is my sister's birthday this coming weekend so there may be another post sooner than later.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn4VYDp5s6Mw_LTIOYw6CvIN_yGKa8Qc_hl3qGqimKu_ayJc9PR1IqptEuPGXvJJC8JjBMcEYbFtoxoTO-zdHQbUW1ajFIpIThBeB5xWXA4aAHcDe2bWUGHc0o3yJ1eGq3XfpkQ29kbvM/s400/IMG_2135.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5592252583125308898" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2RFvFuMeHBjqoWZF_tBp6NkVi54KIpKrOoM6l90-6efKrrCm9CZ2Mv84wxgOxORLF-CE0IdV1cTCyZBVzGmG-nz3IF6lT8tw5tcsvsMZ-E5s0ySsHzCUtlWZy8fWBPOgyU1M_NtHyQDE/s400/IMG_2167.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5592252583151554882" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJO-NeMeClxRyDOEHx2cwn7YZDeLQ5zCFUL2Yk85OE02_0f3TETL880OIShyphenhyphenPKH_tmzr79BJb324PtAgi1IOEepQZfxYlTCDeC90F1040RMu7g0R1klElr4uDcvTnd9PhovxrQHCf8BDU/s400/IMG_2109.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5592252577567052706" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgogZu69F0Xo3aZczhWekecezwwA5TDUJqO3OR-A7-o6k-P4_ZZ9qMXasb0ggTOa_B605ytaeYTqTKfc1kR_kjRWlypMoTPWNEG_L8rnk_kKzDcocqkdFX-6nE4Pqj8vAhPVAm-NXS2ILw/s400/IMG_2162.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5592252569880885922" />Elizabeth Fennellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05198006891423697120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917583981942672107.post-40722419782505482562011-03-08T09:46:00.000-08:002011-03-08T10:28:40.491-08:00Yeeeee Haaaaaaw!!!!Howdy there! I am in cowgirl mode after going to the rodeo this past Friday. To be honest, I was not expecting much, especially for things for Guen to do, but boy was I wrong. I had a great time and Guen had an even better time at her first rodeo. My friend Sarah and her daughter Kate, Guen and myself went in the morning. We parked by Reliant Park, loaded up the girls, and took the tram into the rodeo. We did not go to watch the actual rodeo but got Reliant Park Admission Tickets that allows entrance to the Show, including the carnival, Reliant Arena for horse show events, and Reliant Center for Capital One Bank AGVENTURE, livestock show, shopping and food exhibits. Our first stop was looking at all the cows. It was so much fun to watch Guen point to everything and say "moo" to the cows. Other stops included: the petting zoo, watching the mutton bustin, going through Fun on the Farm, seeing the birthing center and all the babies animals at the birthing center, playing on the tractors, eating a fried snickers bar and bbq and of course seeing all the other animals. Definitely going back next year because we did not even do half of it. But after being there for almost 4 hours with a 1 year old and a 8 month old, we had to go home for naps. I worked all weekend so no other adventures besides the rodeo on Friday. Here are some fun pics:

Sweet Kate:

Guen planting her tomatoes on the farm:

My first fried Snickers:

Baby Chicks:

Riding the tractor:
Elizabeth Fennellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05198006891423697120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917583981942672107.post-42303545355526182482011-02-13T17:25:00.000-08:002011-02-13T17:55:37.713-08:00Aaaah!This new year is flying by so fast already. I have not even posted in about two months. But I do have a valid excuse for January. January 6th evening, I will not forget. I was coming home from a girl's get together when I started to feel really bad. I ended up saying I was getting the flu and decided to not go to the doctor on Friday. Instead I just got sicker and sicker that weekend that when Monday rolled around I thought I was going to die. I made an appointment first thing on Monday and found out I had a raging case of strep. At the same time, Guen was sick with a virus/cold and when ended getting her tested for strep too but luckily it was negative. Unfortunately she stayed sick for about two miserable weeks of not eating and fevers. In fact we took her to the doctor two more times just to make sure something was not wrong with her. She lost almost 2 pounds off of her little 24 pound body because she was so sick. Then about during this time Ryan got really sick. This is when I am so lucky and thankful that my parents live close. We were both so sick that some of those days they had to come and take care of Guen. Ryan ended up having a raging ear infection. It was so bad that he could not even make it through the weekend and went to an urgent care clinic and got some antibiotics. Poor thing, he was sleeping with an ice bag/heating pad to his ears cause it hurt so bad. It really felt like we were all never ever going to get better. I am happy to say that this month has been much better. And now I am finally getting around to posting. This past weekend I had off 4 days, starting with Thursday. I took Guen to mother's day out. I hurried home and cleaned up the house and made lots of food. That took up my entire 5 hours that I am free of my 1 year old. Picked her up and called it a day. Friday, I met my sister for lunch at her favorite place Empire Turkish Grill off of Memorial. Guen was an angel the entire day and so well behaved. Why does she do this around others but not when she is with me? Anywho we went to the mall where I actually bought myself some clothes, yes myself some clothes. And we called it a day. You can see from the pic below how worn out Guen was with her day with her Aunt Tootie. Saturday I went to the grocery and made some dinner and we had the Homer's-Chris, Aaron, Sarah and Kate all over for an early dinner. We played a lot with Guen that day since it was such a nice day outside. Anyway see pics of the fun below. Today, Sunday was our usual go to church in the morning and then we had a birthday party to attend that afternoon. Today is Danielle's 1st birthday, our neice, Guen's cousin. We went over there where Guen was so cranky and shy, it was kinda disappointing to see her cousin's having a ball but she just clinged to Ryan or myself. Eventually after cake and when the party was coming to an end, she came outta her shell and playing. Oh well. Back to work for me tomorrow. Hope all is well with eveyone. I bet it will be even more fun when she understands Santa. Unfortunately, I had to work on Christmas Day but I did have Christmas Eve off. We had my side of the family (my parents, Tootie, Chad, Missy) over for a mexican feast of chicken tortilla soup, tamales, queso, salad, and tons of sweets. It was tasty and we opened prezzies afterwards. When Guen went down for her nap around 3pm, everyone left to go to church and other festivities but Ryan and I got ready to go to party number two. We went over Ryan's sister's house and had Christmas with them. We ate again an appetizer themed meal and all the cousins played together and we opened prezzies. Guen made it til about 8pm (an hour past her bedtime) and we went home and straight to bed. I worked the next day but Ryan and Guen spent Christmas day with my family again over at my parents house eating a big meal of turkey and then going to see a movie. I have been working ever since Christmas, so I am finally sitting down to write a little blog about our day. It was wonderful. I hope you had a great Christmas, here are so pics to see my family enjoying the day.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-3KW14I6cpZhSZYITHSSG_QHwap2oQCSXPIWLlJwKqeMoMpf9-5mGAPD3QEk8vui-o-Mawr0bYKbYQpzwAOivStu65aK_CMPscjBFGI4_wQHl6fosc8o82XX5lRGzTW_7DubTA8NWS9Q/s400/DSC_0768.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5556541282056507522" />

Elizabeth Fennellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05198006891423697120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917583981942672107.post-10183512233810851312010-12-07T12:21:00.000-08:002010-12-07T12:45:11.392-08:00Busy WeekendThis weekend was quite busy. Let's start with my first day off Friday. My first day off, I ran errands and made an appetizer for our Bible Sunday School Classes Christmas Party. My parents came to babysit that evening and we had a nice time visiting in the beautiful house of the Sunday school teachers friend. We had to leave early because Ryan had to work on Saturday and we were both tired. Saturday, Guen and I ran errands again and that afternoon at 2pm we went to my coworkers babyshower. My coworker has been on strict bed rest since about 24 weeks pregnant. So far she is 32 weeks. She is living out our worst nightmare of having a premature baby. Luckily she is past 30 weeks and in our minds she is "ok" to have that baby now. But the longer in, the better and so far so good. She has a terbutaline drip that is going into her leg to keep her from contracting. Anyways, it was nice to see her and my other coworkers outside of work and visit. But we did not stay long because it was around Guen's naptime and she was getting cranksters, so we left. That evening Guen was up 4 times that night which is very unusual but I thought she was just teething, gave her some Motrin and luckily after the forth time of waking up at 3am she was down til when she woke up at 730am. We did our usual church in the morning and that afternoon we went to Amy Enger's kids, Ally and James, pirate themed birthday party, in the Woodlands. I got to see Amy and Barbie and Sarah (and all their kids), so that was fun. It was super cold but Guen was a champ and partied hard and played hard at the park. Unfortunately again that night, around midnight, she woke up again but this time I actually felt heat radiating from her and she had 102 temp. I gave her some drugs and she got up about 2 more times. I called in for Monday at work because after Saturday night getting up with her 4 times and then Sunday night getting up with her 2 times and a temp, I did not want to go in. On Monday I called the pediatrician and told them that Guen had been running a temp from last night of 102-100 but did not know if she was teething or what. The nurse at the office said to just watch her since she did not have any other symptoms. I should have gone with my gut instinct which would have been to bring her in. Because even though I was medicating her with Tylenol and Motrin every 4-6 hours, her temp never went below 100.5. In the past with her teething, she is usually 99-100.2 at the most. So that night, poor thing, she was up all night with temps now as high as 103. Luckily I was off today and took her to the doctor first thing this morning. The doc says that she thinks it is just viral but her urine did come back with a little something so she went ahead and gave her an antibiotic til the urine culture proves negative. This is the first time Guen has EVER been sick and it has been a learning experience. My parents have her right now so I can take a nap before having to go to work tomorrow. But I am so dedicated to this blog, look what I am doing!!! I better go catch some zzzz's. Hope you had a great weekend. Even though I had an eventful weekend, I took no pics, although I took my camera to each event. So just boring words for this report.Elizabeth Fennellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05198006891423697120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917583981942672107.post-44803759284019125552010-11-30T10:57:00.000-08:002010-12-01T14:00:50.673-08:00Thanksgiving Weekend ReportThis Thanksgiving I was off!!! And I was thankful!!! My first day off, Thursday, I got up early to make some chex mix and green bean casserole to take to my parents for turkey day. After Guen's morning nap we went over there and had a delicious meal. Ryan and I were not thinking because Guen ate the messiest meal of her life. Worse than her birthday cake smash-in-ur-face messy. We needed an entire new outfit after our thanksgiving meal. We even needed new socks if that tells you how messy she got. Instead, my sister Tootie had voluteered at a parade that morning and got a free t=shirt, so the family photos we took after thanksgiving you will see Guen in her LARGE t-shirt. After thanksgiving we went home, Guen took a nap and then we were off to Ryan's side of the family Thanksgiving. We caught the tale end of it but that was ok because we were still stuffed from lunch. We hung out the Ryan's family for a couple of hours before getting home around 730pm. Friday, my sister came over to take our family photo for our xmas cards. She shared her stories of Tootie and her continuing with the tradition of hitting the outlet malls at midnight (except now in Houston instead of San Marcos) and seeing the movie Burlesque. Unfortunately when taking the photos, Guen was not in the best mood and my idea of taking outdoor photos was shot due to it raining. But below is one that will not make the card, but was funny! After that my dad came over and we got everything down from the attic to put up the xmas tree. I had planned on doing the BEFORE the photoshoot but it did not happen. So our xmas photos are not very xmas-ee. Oh well. We went and had lunch at Victor's Deli and then came home to decorate the xmas tree while Guen napped. For some reason that afternoon she slept for 2.5 hours so we got everything done! After her nap we went over to a family friends house, the Estes. We got to see Allison and Brendan home from Minneapolis. It was good to see them and Mr and Mrs Estes. Guen was on her best behavior after that long nap. We were proud parents. Saturday we got up and had some family time and around lunch time we went down to see the Homers in there new house they just bought!!! It is gorgeous and huge!!! It even has a library. I love the library. It makes me want to smoke a cigar, drink brandy next to the fireplace with my ascot attire. Yes it even has a fireplace in the library-fancy. We walked to Cafe Benedict and had bunch with the Homer family. Of course baby Kate is an angel while our wild child Guen was loud. It was such a pretty day. That evening Ryan went to the grocery and we watched a weird movie that I could not even watch anymore, I was so bored, called I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With. I had to work on Sunday so that was my Thanksgiving weekend. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving, let me know about your more interesting life.

Before the mess:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9jWuFjdEnCk9ajZXnXpNq-3C24y5sDekXkpb8f66ePRdvdNoIrx0bGiiwXJ0Id_qliCVIeSSAQA3qXtvUF_D7EY7bePlWbel3ziHPZink_u7gQzW4Ww5DZ5Jgnz8g5C_Az1O39yXrAyw/s400/DSC_0570.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5545442616916527490" />
After the mess, the t-shirt:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj023_bRdrvutR3ZS21efLxeCqp1l-N73WZnu5MhAXaFiNeDDUZRGO5Cqe-0Urqodscbr4zu5juZlgQVvFk4RQBe-lQc_s8adi0xoXzA3qQO2lTR7SLZ25ylbqN5YCScXDurtVEsXBJ45Q/s400/DSC_0605.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5545442671486480098" />
I am falling onto Ryan with a mad baby on his lap:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 266px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAPblgYUKu3lA9MXFfg6kjSnd_Y3rBQjM5Pj0oNsU8QZfu-S58dxKYN0YCvsoQZ0MtYKrUSMDDLcFp6XFGmBNIATKd4B77c7URtI7F5HnAdRwznh5Gm5Q0uVvyYtksNz3VpczH6tL1whM/s400/DSC_0697.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5545442675664329938" />
Cute Allison and Brendan:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizeTHBV4C2eGunzsAJbr-wi7HBSBztt1rDnjJu8IggLZ8SSMPkeGSkN5OZkgJxcpuo3tKAvRbcoiWJCdpwnZXrHsPJpdfDRU6SThbECWGrIc9Nu9bDZrvr4W_TliH9JHof9VLf2b3-Cd8/s400/IMG_1862.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5545442684645736210" />Elizabeth Fennellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05198006891423697120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917583981942672107.post-42340638932271562882010-11-20T17:26:00.001-08:002010-11-20T17:40:42.322-08:00Family DayThis Saturday we went to Hockley, Texas! Don't know where that is? I did not either until I received an email from The Mother's Huntwick Group about a place in Hockley, TX where there is this: www.hals.org It is a free place to take your kiddos with a free train ride. It is by a park, so we took our lunch and then rode the train afterwards. It was a little overcast and windy today so we ate quickly and stood in line to ride the train. Luckily it was pretty fast moving, and we only stood in line for about 15-20 minutes. Anyone knows that can be a long time with a 1 year old. The train ride is about 10 minutes long. It winds through the woods and over little bridges. It is really cute. So, if ever you are on the northwest side of Houston, going toward Austin, stop by, it is half a mile off Hwy 290 and well worth the trip. Especially since it was free. Guen had a great time and had fun playing for a little while running around the area with all the other kids. Gotta go to work tomorrow, so I need to go. I hope you have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving!

Eating at the park:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkws9ODfMAPKeHdCb14kVLbzikP-XLaJ8CF7W7l0txerUQ62Wrb0Ox2S3AIUtEfQSPnLKd1RUuRuNVBc8tAbrbNwQ6v7hYEfXNVw-dZ7UJqHFdBHJ3nt35ZRCvQ_0fwavAIFuKYCJBF0g/s400/IMG_1830.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5541810572502034578" />
Guen's little pink engineer hat:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicK5XsQSRnKlR5Qs2ipXqa7610LsgU4iEwoNBbi0GCj3cigFHqiPpTLWFF6GZ7CEOrrdWJgsWrk6mggYInmM-qvWBZjS2fzNdZM64EvBp0fdt_hz2TGF9toOo-pVvvyeYruXKMRP4E1pQ/s400/IMG_1844.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5541810546398428178" />
The train:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5yadBL0uEbw3GJFrBomBI2ieOTgqDJ3E6lGItAd67_v4-dvALh1CEsC1sztG3zs189qBG0zuNXOwpenDFK4iPslF-IBGtqsp_D8TBbEyQ4MP_vGtx2ZpnedmYo-GG_9dH6lXI1c6LFno/s400/IMG_1848.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5541810534326839490" />
Daddy reading to Guen her bedtime story tonight:
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlXtNsX03YlA7o-lr8v9Mxw53K_fCIaY3roRGPtE691MqAWPJwT5QZxe1Gu7n3SFgYIUqcZbOgvJ4-i_YdYjrPzzbYuyKId40zU6kIwTrQx_x1ll_CWrmRcZTMTv5SJi04_Y8Q9C_nvc8/s400/IMG_1857.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5541810587519581714" />Elizabeth Fennellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05198006891423697120noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917583981942672107.post-10446146078052104092010-11-01T20:30:00.000-07:002010-11-01T20:48:11.796-07:00My little ballerinaI had every attempt to make a homemade costume this year. Yeah right, that did not happen. Instead, when I was at Academy picking up some workout wear for me, I saw a 8 dollar ballerina outfit, already had some pink tights and BAM, that was Guen's Halloween costume. Saturday consisted of two parties for Guen. The first was Wyatt's, Barbie's son, 3rd birthday party at the park. You could not have asked for nicer weather. Can you tell that Guen liked the birthday cake. Saturday evening, consisted of Ryan, Guen and I going to the neighborhood Halloween party. We did not stay long because the witching hour, no pun intended, came for Guen around 7pm (her bedtime) and we had to go. On Sunday, I had to work, but Ryan took her around our cul-de-sac trick or treating and said she hated it. We think it was a little to close to her bedtime and that is why she was not a happy ballerina. Here are some pics to enjoy of the weekends festivities...

<img style="display:block; Thursday, my first day off, I took Guen to Mother’s Day Out and started running my errands, That involved getting Ryan's car washed, going to Walmart, going to Target, and going to HEB. Then I went home to make Ryan and I some lunch before running to go get Guen. That afternoon we went to Kohl’s to get Guen her new outfit for her birthday pics.

Side note: I was doing all of this stuff for Ryan not just because I am a wonderful wife, but Ryan finally had back surgery and is currently on the mend. Recovery has been a bit rough for him, but changes in his meds have improved things. It looks promising.

This weather has been gorgeous, so on Friday Guen and I went for a walk. Then after Guen's nap we ate some lunch and got her ready for her photo session at JC Penny. We went to another place in the mall, then to Hobby Lobby and CVS. Guen was tired and took another nap, while I ran to the grocery store again for some things I forgot for the party.

Saturday we woke up and finished decorating (Katherine and Chad added some great balloons.) and had the Mears’ birthday party for Guen over at our house. We had some appetizers and put together her hand-me-down slide in the backyard. She had some piña colada cake that my mom made. She gobbled it up! But Guen was a princess and did not smash it in her face. Instead, she wanted someone to feed it to her.

Guen was a little more hands-on with the gift opening though and she got a bunch of great stuff, including a lunch bag and a stuffed dog. For those counting at home Guen officially tries to carry all of these things at one time around the house:

Doll
Teddy Bear
Stuffed Dog
Lunch Bag
Plastic Chair
Dora the Explorer Birthday Card
At Least One Pacifier
Sunday was the Fennell side of the family’s turn to celebrate with Guen. It was a full house with family and friends of family. Guen made out like a bandit. There were wagons and toys galore. And since we were having cupcakes she decided to get her hands and everything else messy.

Elizabeth Fennellhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05198006891423697120noreply@blogger.com0
